Set up your own Race Thing  Set up a team Race Thing

There are many types of Race Thing across a range of sporting activities, but they usually fall into the three categories above. Everyone’s welcome to race for Cancer Council – there are no age limits (parental consent is required for those under 18yrs) or race time requirements. The most important thing is to have a go and have fun!

Start setting up your Race Thing now by clicking the button above. Our events team review your event to check it meets our fundraising guidelines and supports the aims of Cancer Council - there’s unlikely to be a problem. We then send you a letter authorising you to raise funds on behalf of Cancer Council and a Race Thing kit to help you make the most of your event.

After that, you can set up an online fundraising page especially for your Race Thing (unless the race organisers stipulate that you must use their system). As well as collecting donations supporting the event and provide running totals for you and your supporters. Click here to see a demo.

Once your Race Thing is over, we’ll send you a letter of thanks with the amount raised, plus a certificate for you to keep and share with your event attendees, team of helpers and donors!

OCEANS 20,000!

By involving Wollongong Hawk, Glen Saville, plus having a Facebook page and including local sponsors, the organisers of the Ocean Pool Crawl soon learned that they could attract more media attention. This year, more people than ever swam, doggie-paddled and walked two laps in each of 7 ocean pools wearing flippers, floaties and frocks. The event closed with a BBQ, prizes and a raffle. And the big dip raised over $20,000!
