3 ways to do the School Thing
- Hold a fete to fundraise for Cancer Council.
- Arrange a gold coin mufti or dress-up day.
- Organise a bake sale or anything else you can think of.
How it works
The School Thing is very open - you can do anything as long as it’s raised by the school, the kids themselves or the PTA. As well as the ideas above, you could run a raffle and send the funds raised to Cancer Council, or you could donate a percentage of the tuck shop’s profits. Or something else entirely - it’s completely up to you. All funds you raise contribute to the fight against cancer.
Once you’ve decided what you’d like your School Thing to be and have arranged permission with the school authorities, start setting up your School Thing by clicking the button above. Our events team review your event to check it meets our fundraising guidelines and supports the aims of Cancer Council - there’s unlikely to be a problem. We then send you a letter authorising you to raise funds on behalf of Cancer Council, together with a School Thing kit to help you make the most of your event.
After that, you can set up an online fundraising page especially for your School Thing. As well as collecting donations supporting the event, this page can monitor attendees, and provide running totals for you and your supporters. Click here to see a demo.
Once your School Thing is over, we’ll send you a letter of appreciation with the amount raised, plus a certificate for you to keep and share with your children, team of helpers & donors.
ALLEZ, ALLEZ, ALLEZ!
Go, go, go! was the catchcry when students and staff at the International French School of Sydney (Lycee Condorcet) lined up for a sponsored walk & run in the school grounds in May 2009. With pledges of support from friends & family, every participant wanted to do their best. While some walked, others chose to run all-out to clock up as many 400m laps as possible. A reward for everyone’s efforts was a treat from the cake stall - which helped to drive the funds raised even higher. .
